Scope and Contents The Zachary family of western North Carolina owned land in Jackson, Swain and Buncombe counties during the 1800s.

The collection consists of deeds, land grants, and surveys for the counties mentioned above. There are two pieces of family correspondence and a receipt for a land purchase. The land grants, with accompanying surveys, are the original deeds from when the land was purchased from the U.S. government.
