Content Description Absalom Joshua Burum, a native of Tennessee, joined the Thomas Legion in 1862 as first sergeant, and fought beside Col. William Stringfield's contingent of the Legion for two and a half years. Of the 2,500 men who served in Legion, Burum was to stay with it almost to the last. Although his diary contains mostly weather reports, it also tracks the Legion's movements for 1864.
