Scope and Contents Charlotte Young and Leona Young were the daughters of Pickney Young, a mail carrier who rose to the rank of Confederate Brig. General during the Civil War. The Young sisters, originally from Candler, NC, taught at various schools in North Carolina and other states. In 1911-1912, Charlotte Young taught at Cullowhee Normal & Industrial School.
