Content Description Ralph James Andrews (July 6, 1906 - August 7, 1982) was director of the North Carolina Recreation Commission between 1950 and 1979, and later rejoined the WCU faculty as a research fellow in the Center for Economic Development (now CIML) in late 1970.Born in Smith County, Kansas, Andrews graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. degree in 1934.
