Scope and Contents Joel Thomas Hubbard (1855-1933) was the owner and operator of a dry goods and notions store in Wilkesboro, NC, in the late 19th-early 20th centuries.

Tompkins was born in Michigan in 1862, but grew up in Kansas and Colorado. He took his professional training in the Louisville Medical College (Louisville, KY). Content Description William Walker II (1812-1864) was the son of an Irish immigrant who landed in Virginia about 1770 and later settled in Wilkes County, NC. Walker migrated to Valley Town in Cherokee County, NC, in 1839. He married Margaret Scott, a cousin to General Winfield Scott.
