Scope and Contents This collection consists of a typed draft of Josephine Morgan Upchurch's book of poetry, A Stone Turned, copyrighted in 1972 and published in England in 1973. Upchurch is an alumna of Western Carolina University. The poems in the book are mostly originals by Upchurch, although a few works by other authors are included.

He was a restaurateur and a reporter for the United Press International and the Associated Press. In 1965, he founded the Haywood County Music Company. Content Description M. W. [Major Wiley] Parris of Jackson County, North Carolina, was 37 when he enlisted in May, 1861, and became a private in the North Carolina 25th Infantry Regiment, Company B. The three letters presented here are to his wife, Jane Parris. Content Description The one item in the collection is an indebtedness agreement dated January 1, 1857, between William Holland Thomas and Nacheuh (?), a Cherokee. The agreement specifies the terms of the debt, which concerns Thomas acting as an agent for the "Buffalo Indians" (members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee) of Graham County (NC) in some land transactions.
