Content Description

This addition to the Stringfield, Love, and Sloan families primarily concerns Dr. Thomas Stringfield (September 10, 1910 – April 24, 1966), physician, from Haywood County, NC. He married Harriet Cutler Coburn. Dr. Stringfield volunteered for the British Emergency Medical Service in the early years of World War II, treating British civilians injured in bombings. He returned to the United States after the entry of the United States into the war, and served as a doctor in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy for the remainder of the war, primarily in the Pacific theatre.

Upon his return to the United States, he practiced medicine in Haywood County, NC, until his death.
