Content Description

This collection has two main parts. The first consists of commemorative envelopes and newspaper clippings concerning the ride conducted from Asheville, North Carolina, to Newport, Tennessee, in June 1967, known as Operation Conestoga.

The second part contains deeds, indentures, land grants, and surveys. Most of the items are from Anson County, NC, but there are some from Haywood County and Buncombe County (both NC), and Greene County, TN. Also in the collection is a pledge for money to be paid in lumber, labor, and merchandisable produce to the church of the Forks of the Pigeon (NC) for an Academy, and dated 1845.
