Content Description
Papers of the Siler family of Macon County, North Carolina, notably Jacob Siler (1795 – 1871), David W. Siler (1822 – 1884), and Charles W. Slagle, a grandson of Jacob Siler. The papers include correspondence, business and financial records, church minutes, contracts, affidavits, surveys/plats, financial papers, legal papers and other materials of family interest. Among the topics are Jacob Siler’s work on behalf of the state of North Carolina concerning Cherokee Lands and the Western Turnpike.
