Scope and Contents The Western North Carolina Associated Communities is made up of eleven western counties in North Carolina (Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, Swain, and Transylvania). Begun in 1947, the organization was dedicated to the development of the region.
