There are eleven ledger books containing financial information on the company, covering the period 1926-1947. Scope and Contents The bulk of this collection concerns John Preston Arthur's book, Western North Carolina: A History (From 1730 to 1913), originally published in 1914 by the Edwards & Broughton Printing Company (Raleigh, NC) in cooperation with Edward Buncombe Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) of Asheville, NC. Content Description The collection contains a photocopy of a booklet, The Battle of Fort Sumter and First Victory of the Southern Troops, April 13, 1861, published in Charleston, SC, in 1861. This account of the Fort Sumter affair is chiefly a compilation of reports by Charleston newspapers. The book is thirty-two pages in length and contains, in addition to an account of the battle, a description of Fort Sumter and the official correspondence of the Confederate command.
