The collection contains several unrelated items donated to the WCU History Department. Title of collection changed from "History Department" to "Western North Carolina Miscellanea" February 5, 2015.

Among the items are:

Correspondence from Anna Angel Allen to her father and brother (surname Angel). The letters are primarily of family interest.

A family "patent right" of T.M. Angel for "Levi Cutshawl's Churning Machine."

Tax receipts of T.M. Angel for 1872-1897. Folder 1: Correspondence. 1900-1913.

An 1862 bill of sale for a slave and an 1847 runaway slave-wanted poster.

Folder 2: An 1865 Oath of Allegiance.

An 1852 land deed of T.M. Angel.

Miscellaneous deeds, receipts, etc. 1872-1897

Folder 3: An 1813 Navy Officer's Commission signed by President Madison.

A Georgia one-hundred-dollar bill and a North Carolina one-dollar bill.

A 1900 Democratic campaign circular.

A ledger from the Red Hill Baptist Church with records from 1895-1913. Location of Red Hill Baptist Church unknown, but probably western North Carolina.

A Flat Rock, NC, business ledger dating from 1895-1913.
