Scope and Contents The primary part of the collection is a copy of a report compiled by Dr. James H. Horton and Lynn Gaines of the Western Carolina University Biology Department. The study was authorized and paid for by the National Park Service. The report was a study of the floristics of selected heath communities along the southern section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Braun-Blanquet cover estimate method was used to gather data. The notes used to compile the appendices of the report are also contained.
