Ledger, c. 4 inches x 9 and 3/4 inches, forty-nine leaves, with handwritten entries in pencil and ink dating from 1890s to 1920s. Main headings are for the Hamburg and Cashiers Valley townships of Jackson County, North Carolina. Alphabetical listing of individual's names by townships, and separate listing of names and ages of children. Entries for "work on road," "work on school house," "work at saw mill," "paid preacher" and churches, and additional entries for goods purchased and/or services rendered.
