W.T. Combs Papers

While working for the United States Forest Service, W.T. Combs surveyed and mapped North Carolina's portion of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Pisgah National Forest authorities assigned Combs to act as a liaison between surveyors and title attorneys.



The collection contains an article by Combs on the rights of sportsmen, a final report on North Carolina land grants and title records, and a letter from Combs to his grandson, John Parham, discussing his adventures while surveying. Also included in the collection are extracts from John Lawson's "A History of North Carolina 1700 - 1709."
